Landscape Solutions That Work With Nature
Landscape projects call for different solutions based on multiple factors. EcoWorks Sustainable Landscapes develops landscape solutions by considering your property's location, sun exposure, soil conditions, drainage patterns, and surrounding environment.
A large part of our design and construction division is dedicated to landscape drainage and erosion solutions. Living in the Pacific Northwest, many of our clients have properties that suffer from excessive stormwater runoff, standing water caused by poor drainage, or erosion on slopes and hillsides.
EcoWorks Sustainable Landscapes consults with clients to evaluate existing conditions, recommend permanent solutions, and develop plans that resolve both minor and major landscape concerns while enhancing the beauty and functionality of the property.
1) Erosion Control
One of the biggest concerns in the Pacific Northwest is erosion control. If left unattended, erosion can eventually lead to serious landscape damage and even landslides. EcoWorks Sustainable Landscapes understands the power of organic methods and uses high-quality erosion-control soils and soil amendments to help stabilize landscapes and prevent long-term problems.
2) Stormwater and Drainage Solutions
Storm water and rainwater control are extremely important, especially when a property is on a hillside or has known flooding issues. The Pacific Northwest has strong weather patterns that can affect a property quickly if water flow cannot be properly discharged. Ecoworks has varied approaches to this issue based on property conditions, how rainwater is collected from rooftops and existing structures, and how it is diverted away from the property. Reading the land and listening to our clients about the issues they have experienced is where we excel. Our goal is to create practical, well-built solutions that work even in the most extreme conditions.
3) Hillside Stabilization
Hillside stabilization involves various techniques to prevent erosion and maintain soil stability. Some of the issues we have seen have been landslides, improper water drainage, lack of vegitation, poorly built retaining walls and so on. Unstable hillsides, no matter how big or small are a serious concern and require a variety of approaches based on property conditions and hillside locations.
4) Improving Soil Conditions
Poor soil conditions are common throughout our region, especially in newly constructed neighborhoods. When the soil isn't healthy, every part of the landscape is affected. EcoWorks Sustainable Landscapes uses a variety of methods to improve soil quality and transform rocky, underperforming ground into healthy, thriving gardens.
Understanding how nature functions and how the land naturally behaves is central to our approach. Every solution is carefully planned to create landscapes that are functional, sustainable, and enjoyable throughout the year.
EcoWorks Sustainable Landscapes is a nature-based, sustainable landscape design and build company. We are stewards of nature and take great care in our approach to every project. Owner Matthew Hayes apprenticed with a company nationally recognized for its environmental work, pioneering use of organic practices, and fine landscape design and construction. Matthew worked side by side with the owner for more than 10 years, including major construction sites involving environmental restoration and erosion control projects. Matthew begins each new project by meeting with clients on-site to discuss their objectives and vision. For every project, he creates a design that highlights the property's potential before working with the client to determine an approach that maximizes their budget.
